Tonight I tried to paint. I have a love-hate relationship with painting. I love the IDEA of it but when I sit down to do it, I just cannot translate what my head is thinking to that canvas. Painting is both calmingly (yes, that’s a word according to dictionary.com) therapeutic and SO stinkin’ frustrating that I want to dip the brush in black ink, draw a big X on the center of the picture and chuck the canvas out the window….And that is just what I did tonight, minus the window part. I can’t draw. I can’t paint. BUT! I can take pictures. Sitting in my frustration, pouting on the couch, I reflected on my photos and thought—“I am so glad that when I set out to do a wedding, I don’t hope the photos will turn out good enough for a bathroom wall in the guest bedroom.” (This is usually how I feel about blank canvases when I attempt to paint).
When I sling my camera backpack on and fasten all the buckles in case I want to go mountain climbing or act like “Harriet the Spy,” I know that I am going to come back home to edit masterpieces. That is not coming out of ego…just joy. I can take pictures. I love translating my love for photography and the couples’ love for each other onto prints and I hope it shows.
ANYWAY…Laura & Jordan are truly an extraordinary couple. Laura is a counselor and works with Young Life. Jordan has a sweet car that he races around. They planned this rockin’ wedding at the Rod and Gun Club with tons of vintage accents EVERYWHERE! It was so beautiful and the dancing was a blast. This wedding definitely was a reflection of their personalities and it was such a joy to see them indulge in every moment of their special day. Congratulations Laura & Jordan!!!
This is one of my favorite moments…Laura’s dad was saying a blessing for the meal and said “God, we thank you for the marriage of Laura and….and….and………………………………….Jordan.” hahaha! He totally forgot Jordan’s name. Everyone had a good laugh.
I found my seating card later on in the night and it was next to the name “Rick” which is my older brother’s name! I had to take a pic :).
That is one of Laura’s good friends….and Laura’s mom….dancing. hahaha.
