Together for 10 years, married for 3 months; Chris and Jansen are just simply magical together. They have weathered growing up together. They have cheered for each other; from soccer sidelines to stage performances and nation-wide audiences. I have to admit, this shoot felt different than photographing engaged couples. As I was editing, I reflected on how post-marriage sessions should absolutely become a “thing”. This is the side of marriage where the fire of togetherness is tested and refined to the most beautiful of passions. There is a different feeling in these photographs. There is a foundation laid and secured and a promise that rises above the current of difficulty, threatening one-ness. And it’s all in that promise they made, the day they can point back to. We see image after image of engaged couples commemorating their love in photographs. I am a wedding photographer-I am obsessed with these images! But romance is not reserved for the young and the new.  So I wonder… What would it be like if married couples invested in new photos of their time-tested love? There is a lie in the multitude of images that only the new couples have excitement and depth and fearless love. Let’s change that! How many portraits do you have of you together as you are right now? Why not schedule a photo session with just your spouse for the sake of your marriage? This is not a plug for my business. This is a plea to resurrect the belief that marriage is beautiful, fun, and passionate even years later. Chris and Jansen, I expect to re-shoot this when you guys are 80 years old….and I will only be….86? haha! thanks for jumping in the lake and loving on each other for my camera.
