January 13, 2009, Ryland and I had been married for about 4 months. After begging him for a puppy a few times (ok, maybe every single day), we finally visited the St. Johns Pet Center “just to look.” Cage after cage, the dogs peered up at us. Some of them looked sad and reserved, others were barking their heads off and jumping off the walls. We finally got to the last cage to find this tiny little thing curled up in the corner. He had been dropped off the day before and I don’t think that the little fella had gotten used to the barking, coldness, and loneliness of the shelter. After playing with him in the yard a little bit, we told the lady helping us that we did like him but we would need to go home and think about the possibility of adopting him. She said “If you leave this dog here now, he is not going to be here when you come back…everyone is going to want him because he is a puppy.” SOLD.
After paying a very small fee and filling out some papers, I was sitting in the passenger seat with the little puppy asleep in my lap. He was only 6 weeks old and about 6 and 1/2 pounds. For a while, I was able to carried him around in my purse but then he grew and grew and now he is 80 pounds! (And I can’t pick him up at all.) But—he is still my little baby and he is the sweetest most cuddly lapdog you could ever wish for. I love him.
Tyson is our first born child. He is 2 1/2 now and definitely displaying terrible two behavior BUT it is so hard to be mad at this face…
Tyson is never content being beside you. He has to be on top of you. All 80 pounds of him.
We usually don’t let him on the bed but come on! LOOK at that face!
